Episode Six - Entitled - 'Preterition'

There was a silence in the room as the Ewing brothers waited for Wes to reveal who killed Jock Ewing.

"What did you see Parmalee? Who killed my daddy?" JR asked in an air filled with extreme tension.

Wes sat, his sunken face stood frozen as he reflected on the information that had for so long been hidden.

Bobby looked over at JR

"Parmalee what did you see?" JR asked again

Parmalee picked up the glass of water , sipping it slowly as beads of sweat began to appear on his forehead.

Wes looked up at JR and Bobby.

"JR, Bobby - It was me, I killed your daddy" Wes stated as tears began to well in his tired eyes.

There was a shocked silence in the room. JR could feel his heart beating faster and faster, his stomach turned in a knot. He was not expecting this response from Wes - as the seconds passed both Bobby and JR tried to come to terms with the words that Wes has uttered, the fact they were standing in front of the man who had killed their daddy. There was no set way to react.

The doctor realizing the depth of what had been said decided to take control of the situation. He leant forward towards Wes.

"What happened Wes?" he asked calmly

"I was sent down to South America to find out about the leases Jock was looking for, there was big money in those leases, and at that time the South American government was as corrupt as they come and perhaps with a little persuasion there might of been a few favors put our way" Wes explained coldly.

"What do you mean? Who is we?" Bobby asked, his eyes emotional as the anger began to boil inside him

"Let me finish Bobby" Wes stated in a somber tone.

Bobby looked on with no reply.

"I had to keep an eye on Jock, that was why I was there, maybe we could take the deal from right on under him and screw the American Government. But it wasn't working out and they became desperate, they needed money and fast"

JR interrupted "I have had enough of this, now you tell us who you mean by `they` and `we`. Im loosing my patience Parmalee"

Wes smiled "Oh JR don't you know? in your heart don't you know? "

J.R breathed heavily waiting for Wes to reveal the facts

"Just tell us, no more games. " JR insisted

Wes nodded "Ok. Your old pals JR, Jeb Ames and Willie Joe Garr"

Bobby looked at JR. JR stood in silence

"Doesn't really surprise you does it J.R? You know what son of a bitches those two are. They were real mad, they wanted revenge. Didn't start out like that - they heard about Jock going down there, thought something might be in it for them. They were more desperate than a whore on heat, sent me down there, said it would be more than worth my while. " Wes explained.

Bobby moved forward aggressively"That doesn't explain what happened in the chopper" he stated through gritted teeth.

"As I said Bobby, things were not working out. Jock was getting suspicious, things were moving too slow , especially after your daddy caught that fever. Ames and Garr had a new tactic and that was to kill Jock. Told me to do it on the day of the chopper crash, something to do with a forged codicil and drilling for Oil on Southfork, I guess they were going to put the pressure on you JR." Wes said looking over at JR

JR stood still in silence. He showed a sign of emotion as he eyes expressed a deep pain of regret and guilt.

"Go on" Bobby instructed

Wes became somber , he took another sip from the water

"The storm was brewing and the chopper was tussled around like paper in a wind chase, my carry case fell open and Jock saw some papers from Ames. I saw Jocks eyes ignite with a fury, demanding to know what was going on. How I knew Ames. We started arguing, I told him it was none of his business. He wouldn't leave it, demanding, just demanding to know, he wouldn't stop. I was frustrated, I grabbed my gun and told him to shut up, to stop it. But he wouldn't. He tried to grab the gun from me, I could hear Ramizez telling us to stop, we struggled with the gun, it was crazy and then the gun went off and Jock fell forward. I heard Ramizez scream out as we must of hit the plane and that's it, it was over. The chopper went down like a piece of lead, and it was seconds and that's it. That was my last memory" Wes put his head down.

The room was silent.

"I'm going to call the police" Bobby said calmly walked out of the room.

JR followed him.

Outside the room, Bobby stood with his hand against his head.

"What are we going to do Bobby?" JR asked.

Bobby shook his head

"Ames? Garr? JR part of me right now wants to tear you apart" Bobby said emotionally as tears streamed down his face" Those dam dirty dealings , those dam red files. Two people dead because of that, Julie Gray and daddy. Right now I'm angry but Im not going to blame you JR, I can't blame you, it would be wrong and Im sure right now you have to deal with all this yourself"

JR stood silently listening.
