Episode Five

The moon shines brightly over Southfork Ranch, home to the Ewings and before that the Southworths, maintained by Aaron Southworth, father of Ellie and before that her grandfather. A legacy based on a love for the land, a love for family.

Pamela Ewing walked out on the patio. Her son Christopher sat still looking out over the land.

Pam looked on at him.

"Christopher Im so sorry" she said.

Christopher didnot reply.

Pam walked closer to him, a gentle breeze blew her hair back.

Christopher sat, staring forward "You may think I'm selfish, I know it hasn't been easy for you either, but damn it.........I can't help the way I feel"

He stood up and walked into the house.

Through the gates of Southfork the sheriffs car drove. It passed another car belonging to Katherine Wentworth. She looked on at the sheriffs car.

Pam looked on from the patio and saw the lights of the sheriffs car in the distance. Pam stood up.

"Bobby" she called.

Lucy walked out.

"Bobby's upstairs Pam" Lucy said noticing the sheriffs car.

The car pulled up in the driveway. Sheriff Brogan walked out taking off his Stetson.

"Can I see a Mr Ewing, a Mr Bobby Ewing" he asked.

Pam turned to Lucy "go and get Bobby Lucy"

Lucy walked back into the house.

"What's happened? I'm Pamela Ewing" she said.

"Well Ma'am, there's been an accident" he said. "John Ross Ewing, he's in the Presbyterian Hospital, his father called us to come out here"

"Oh my god.....what happened?" Pam asked

"A car accident ma'am, its pretty serious" he explained.

Bobby walked out onto the patio with Lucy and Christopher.

"What's going on?" Bobby asked.

Pam turned to Bobby.

"Its John Ross, he's been in a car accident, he's at Presbyterian hospital in Dallas" Pam explained

Bobby looked shocked "well how bad is he? Does Sue Ellen and JR know?"

"He's in a pretty bad way Mr Ewing, both Mrs Ewing and Mr Ewing are with him now" The sheriff explained.

Bobby looked at Pam.

"I better get over there" Bobby explained.

Lucy and Christopher said they were coming too.

Bobby turned back to Pam.

"Do you mind staying here, Mamas with Mavis and Punk, I don't want her to come home and find this out" Bobby said.

Pamela smiled and squeezed Bobby's hand "of course"

Bobby gritted his teeth "my god, I hope he's ok" he said.

At the Presbyterian Hospital in Walnut Hill Lane Dallas....... Sue Ellen paced the corridor, Becky sat on a chair with her head in her hands.

JR walked down the corridor.

"Any news?" Sue Ellen asked.

"No no not a damn word, you know Sue Ellen he better pull through this" JR stated with a viciousness in his voice. "For your sake he better pull through this"

Sue Ellen's eyes, stained from crying looked at JR "what do you mean by that?"

"This is all your fault Sue Ellen, you and that tramp girl over there, you may have killed my son, if you hadn't gone off after him like that, if she hadn't interfered in his life" JR stated .

Sue Ellen shook her head "No JR, don't do this"

JR circled her like a vulture.

"You have been a thorn in my side for as long as I can remember, taking my son from me, taking my company, and now this, I will destroy you for this, I guarantee you that"

JR walked over to Becky, she looked up at him

"And you.....you came into his life and you destroyed it"

"I love him" Becky whispered

"LOVE?......" JR stated "You don't know what love is, and whatever happens you'll never see my boy again"

JR stood and stared at the girl, his face filled with a an undesirable hate, packed with venom.

He walked off.

Becky broke down crying.

Sue Ellen stood watching. She walked over to Becky and bent down to her.

She put her hand on Becky's head and hugged her and took a breath as the tears flooded from her eyes.

The clock ticked by in the operation theatre as the doctors worked on JohnRoss, the heart monitor beeped out informing the medical staff that everything was how it should be.

Pam sat alone in the lounge at Southfork watching the television, Jane the maid walked in.
"I`ll be off now " She said.

Pam smiled "Ok Jane have a nice evening"
Jane left and Pam continued to watch the TV.

"Hi Pam" a voice said
Pam looked up to see Katherine.

"Katherine.....thankgoodness, iv been trying to reach you all day" Pam declared

Katherine walked over to her "Iv been out all day but I heard the police arrested you" she said.

Pam looked down "well yes they did,........... they will want to talk to you too" she said

Katherine smiled and held Pam's hand

"You know Pam, im so sorry you got into this mess, I feel partly to blame" Katherine said.

Pam smiled "don`t, you have helped me, so much, despite whatever happened in the past"

Katherine stood up and walked over to the fireplace and picked up the photograph of Bobby.

"You know Pamela, you have been so lucky" she said.

"Lucky?" Pam questioned.

"Yes in many ways, here you are with the all mighty Ewings, with Bobby, and your son and me? I have nothing" Katherine turned to Pam

Pam stood up "Katherine, I know I'm lucky but it hasn't been easy for me"

Katherine smiled "you know I was thinking on my way over here how different things would of been, could of been. You know if you had never looked for my mother, you know she would still probably be alive today, things would of been so different. I would of stayed in New York, perhaps continued to pursue my career in journalism and mother would not have got on the plane that day"

Pam looked concerned "Katherine I can't even try to imagine what it must of been like for you, but if Im honest, I was envious of you "

"Me?" Katherine laughed

"Yes, you were lucky enough to have mama, for her to be there for you when you were growing up, to have a father who loved you. I never had that, oh I had Aunt Maggie and she was one amazing woman, but she wasn't my mother. . But it was never easy, my life was a constant battle, battling Digger, battling to have a better life, even marrying Bobby was a fight, fighting the Ewings, trying to prove myself, trying to show that I was as good a and as tough as any of them , we all can look back Katherine and think what might of been, but that doesn't help anyone, because what is.....is and no matter how much we yearn for things to be different fate has other plans and its far out of our control." Pam explained.

Katherine smiled "poor Pam, you know I'm surprised how you cope"

"What do you mean?" Pam asked

"Well after all you've been through, the crash and everything, must be hard. I was thinking do you remember when I first came to Dallas, you were at Brooktree, tried to kill yourself, do you remember that?"

Pam paused "yes of course I do"

Katherine smiled and widened her eyes "well I was concerned, because with that kind of history it would not shock anyone if you tried again"

Pamela suddenly became uncomfortable in Katherine presence, she had not seen this side of Katherine since the day many years before that she had confronted her sister over a letter that ruined her marriage to Bobby.

Pam took a breath "Katherine what are you getting at? "

"Oh Pamela you are so niave. So trusting"

Pamela shook her head. "Im not listening to this anymore. I suggest you leave"

Pamela walked away from Katherine into the hallway. Katherine followed.

"Its not over yet. This is just the beginning" Katherine glared at her sister

"Just leave" Pamela said

Katherine smiled and opened the frontdoor and walked out closing it behind her.

Pam stood watching the door close as Katherine left. She shook her head in disbelief.

There was an silence erry silence in the house which was broken by the sound of a car driving off outside. Pamela felt secure that Katherine had now left Southfork.

Pamela then made her way up the stairs and into her bedroom.
She then sat on the bed and removed her earring as she rang Bobby's cell phone "This phone is currently switched off please leave a message after the tone" came the automated response.
Pam replaced the receiver.

Pamela sat and thought for a moment.
Suddenly the house was sent into darkness as all the lights went out. Pam stood up in the room lit up by the moon outside and flicked the light switch. No response.

She left her bedroom and made her way along the corridor and reached the top of the stairs.

She heard a noise behind her and with her heart racing she swiftly turned.
Katherine stood behind her.

"Pamela I made you a promoise on your hospital bed, that oneday I would have all that was yours and now Im going to keep that promoise....I can see the headlines tomorrow "Pamela Barnes Ewing .......suicide tragedy"

Pamela looked horrified as Katherine lashed out at her, her eyes filled with an intense, an anger which has built up over years.With an almighty force Katherine thurst herself forward. Pamela let out a heart rending scream as she lost her balance and was sent hurtleing down the Southfork stairs in the darkness.

Katherine stood watching in a cold sombre manner as she looked down to see Pamelas lifeless body slumped at the bottom of the stairs in disaray.
