Ray Krebbs sat down on the couch as his house, Charlie stood on glaring at him.

"Well?" She questioned. "What happened? What did you do?" She asked.

Ray put his head in his hands. Charlie walked over to him and pulls his hands away viciously.

"Stop it "she yelled. "Stop feeling sorry for yourself, my mother is dead and alls you can do is be full of self pity, your so dam weak it makes me sick". Charlie took a step back.

Ray looked up at her "I don`t know what happened Charlie, she was having an affair"

There was a silence. Charlie looked shocked and sat down.

"An affair ? What the hell happened here?" She asked.

"Our marriage was......it was in a mess, had been for ages, we had grown apart I guess, I wish I knew what happened" he explained.

Charlie stood up again. "It was here wasnt it? She killed herself in this house?".

Ray nodded.

Charlie looked up and breathed heavily "theres more to this Ray, a lot more, my mother wasnt the type to just kill herself, she wasnt the type"

Ray stood up. "Im sorry Charlie".

Charlie closed her eyes. "I hate this place, I hate this place more than anything....why did you have to come back? Why?"

Ray shook his head and reached out to her. Charlie pulled back.

"No Ray, please". She stated.

Ray looked down.
"I want to see my brother, I want to see Lucas" she asked.

"Hes sleeping" Ray explained.

Charlie rubbed her head. "Ok, ok I`ll come back in the morning".

She picked up her bags, "Im going to find out Ray, Im going to find out what happened," She shook her head again closing her eyes and walked out.

Ray stood silent..............................

Charlie got in the car and sat for a moment then fell forward onto the steering wheel crying.

Sue Ellen walked out of her bedroom at Southfork and knocked on Pams door. Pam did not answer. "I know your in there Pam would you please open the door" Sue Ellen demanded.

Pam opened the door and Sue Ellen walked in.

"Whats wrong?" Pam asked.

Sue Ellen stood, she looked angry, too angry to talk.

"Where the hell were you Pamela? I needed you today" Sue Ellen explained

Pam walked over to her "Im sorry Sue Ellen something came up, something important"

Sue Ellen nodded "well thats wonderful because Ewing Oil is in trouble, big trouble and JR is behind it".

Pam put her hands in the air "I can`t deal with this now, Im sorry Sue Ellen please".

Sue Ellen looked at Pam. "You agreed to come into Ewing, and now you say sorry, well thats not good enough Pam, I needed you, this day has been a nightmare, JR has Ewing Oil against the wall and unless I do something quick we`ll loose everything".

Pam walked away "JR, oh JR, I don`t care about JR and right now I don`t care about Ewing Oil.Theres other things in life more important than power, than money, and winning".

"Don`t abandon me now Pam, please I need you" Sue Ellen begged.

Donna walked along the hallway carrying a glass of milk she heard Sue Ellen and Pam arguing and came in.

"Excuse me, but theres a young girl down the hallway trying to sleep". Donna said.

Sue Ellen stopped and smiled "Im sorry Donna".

Donna smiled back "listen "she said "I havn`t had the opportunity to catch up with either of you, so lets say we go downstairs, sit outside and maybe catch up, its a beautiful night".

Sue Ellen smiled and nodded "Id like that" she said and turned to Pam "Pam?" she asked.

Pam nodded. "Ok" she said.

Pam and Donna sat out on the patio and Sue Ellen came out with a tray.

"There you go, wine for you two" she handed them a glass of wine. "And for me something more sobering" she laughed.

"You know Sue Ellen I do admire you" Donna stated.
Sue Ellen smiled "That is a great compliment coming from you".

"Well when I think back , you really have made a life for yourself" Donna said.

Sue Ellen nodded "well it wasnt easy, but yes that person you used to know, that person I don`t recognize who thought there was no life without JR, well shes gone, but I can`t forget her, because I know shes still there somewhere".

"What about you Donna?" Pam asked.

"Me?" Donna laughed. "I have my life in Washington, but I sit here, and boy sometimes I miss Texas"

Pam nodded "all seems so long ago, "

"it was" Donna said.

"How about Andrew, hows he?" Sue Ellen asked.

"Busy, very busy" Donna took a sip on her wine.

"Problems?" Sue Ellen asked.

"We have problems, but we`re working through them, just being here, feels like home" Donna stated.

Sue Ellen looked over at Pam. "I feel quite selfish, I had a bad day today, Ewing Oil is in trouble, JR has pulled out all the stops this time to get what he thinks is his back, meanwhile poor Jenna is laying dead and people are hurting."

Donna smiled "don`t turn into JR Sue Ellen, if anyone knows it should be you, what being JR means, the people hes hurt, in the name of power, in the name of family "

Sue Ellen nodded "family" she whispered. "Sometimes I scare myself, maybe I don`t drink now, but maybe Ewing Oil and winning is my new addiction".

Donna leant forward "and which is worse Sue Ellen, have things really changed?".

Sue Ellen thought for a moment "you mean JR?"

Donna nodded "your motives, seems to me like JR is still controling your life,".

Sue Ellen sat up straight "perhaps thats true, to some extent, but thats where I am right now, I can`t describe to you, to anyone, or maybe even to myself how JR made me feel, how he tried to destroy me, but I can`t let him do that again, thats what he wants"

"Even if it means being like JR?" Donna asked.

Sue Ellen nodded "whatever it means, this is where I am, and Ewing Oil is all I have to hold on to, its who I am".

Pam shook her head "amazing isn`t it, despite what we want to believe, have things really changed? Are we any happier now than we were back then?"

"Of course things have changed Pam" Donna said.

Pam raised her eyebrows "for the better?" she asked standing up and walking away.

Donna sat and thought and looked up at Sue Ellen. Sue Ellen smiled.

The two women sat in a moments silence, a moment of peace as they reflected upon their lives.

A car pulled up outside the Barnes house. JohnRoss sat in the drivers seat with Becky next to him. The Barnes house was in darkness.

"Whats the time?" Becky asked.
JohnRoss looked at his watch "a little after one" he said.

Becky raised her eyebrows "how am I going to explain my car is stuck in the middle of nowhere and won`t work?" she stated.

Johnross smiled and turned to her as Becky adjusted her hair in the car mirror.
"Don`t worry" he explained "I`ll sort it out, your car will be back in the morning".

"You know how much trouble there would be if our parents had any idea that we were together tonight?" She said.

JohnRoss laughed "don`t worry my mom will be cool".

Becky turned to him sarcastically "sure, I just happened to have trashed her office"

Johnross gritted his teeth "oh I forgot about that".

Becky smiled "well I best be going"

Johnross smiled and nodded.

There was a silence.

"Well I`ll see you around then" he said breaking the silence.

"Yep" Becky replied

There was another silence

"bye then" Becky said uncomfortably.

"Ok take care" JohnRoss said looking away.

Again there was a silence. Becky began to laugh.

"Im really going this time" She said.

Johnross smiled at her, his eyes seemed so alive.

"Ok I`ll see you" he said.

Becky smiled "sure" she whispered and opened the car door and walked out closing it as Johnross drove off. She stood watching then walked up to the house and opened the door. Afton came down the stairs in a dressing gown

"Who was that?" Afton asked

"Where?" Becky asked.

"In the car? Wheres your car?" Afton asked.

Becky thought for a second "Oh my car? That car? My car broke down....thats why im late so I got a lift".

Afton walked over to her "I was very worried about you, you never called, especially after today,I didn`t like what happened"

Becky nodded "I know, I should of called....." Becky paused for a second.
"You ok mom...? you don`t too good" She asked.

Afton smiled "Im fine, just tired"

Becky nodded "well goodnight"

Afton kissed her on the cheek "goodnight"

Becky walked up the stairs and went into her bedroom closing the door.

She lay on her bed thinking. Her mobile phone began to ring, she quickly picked it up and answered it "hello " she said.

JohnRoss was on the other end. "I hated leaving like that" he said from his own mobile phone.

Becky laughed "Like what?" she acted coy but she knew.

Johnross laughed "so what are you doing?" he asked.

Becky smiled "who is this?" she asked, and began to laugh.

Johnross laughed "very funny, anyway look outside your window".

Becky took the phone to the window and saw JohnRoss standing below.

She opened the window and called down quietly "what are you doing?" she called.

"I missed you" JohnRoss said with a big smile on his face.

"Your crazy Johnross, I thought I was crazy, my moms awake" She said.

"When can I see you again?" he asked.

"Never" she said laughing. "Now go away"

"Im not going anywhere, I will sit here all night if I have to" he said.

Becky thought for a moment "You know JohnRoss you could of been a bit more original then this, you`ve been watching too many movies" she said.

JohnRoss laughed "stop avoiding the question".

"Ok ok, tomorrow, meet at 8 at the Samba Room in Travis Street ok?"

JohnRoss beamed a smile. "Sure see you then" he made a wave, and ran off.

Becky lay down on her bed and smiled and turned and took a breath.

JohnRoss arrived home at Southfork and walked up the stairs to his room. He took off his jacket and threw it on the bed. There was a knock at his door. Johnross told them to come in. JR stood in his dressing gown "hi son" he said "had a late night I see" JR stated,

JohnRoss agreed and said he was tired.
JR walked over to him I havn`t had a proper chance to talk to you since you got back, and you know your 21 soon" JR smiled.

JohnRoss nodded "yep not too long now".
JR nodded and thought "I always thought you`d be at Ewing Oil , that I could hand it over to you, your a real man now JohnRoss".

John Ross raised his eyebrows "well dad, I guess things change, I mean you don`t even have Ewing Oil, but thats ok, Mom seems to be handling it fine".

JR nodded "I know I know, but still Ewing Oil should be yours and perhaps one day soon it will be" he explained.

JohnRoss yawned "well dad I really need to sleep".
JR nodded "sure" he said smiling.

He put his hand on JohnRoss`s shoulder "soon JohnRoss, soon you`ll have your granddaddies legacy". JR then walked out.

JohnRoss lay down on his bed and stretched his arms out and laughed as he recalled his evening with Becky.
