Ewing
19 was also one of Ewing Oils best Oil wells, in a time when oil was
not the top commodity it once was some Ewing Fields were still viable,
pumping full out. The rigs stood firm as the drills dug deep into the
sun dried soil. The almost primitive sight of aby gone era suddenly
erupted into a massive explosion, flames rouse high into the sky.
The television in JR`s office at Westar reported the explosion at Ewing
19. JR clicked the remote control. He turned to Peter Edwards from the
First State Bank of Texas. "Looks like Ewing Oil is in trouble"
Edward's explained. JR nodded and agreed in an insincere manner "yeah
shame damn shame".
Peter took
a sip from his Bourbon and asked JR how he could help him. JR smiled
"well Pete I believe you loaned a substantial amount of money to
Ewing Oil, I also believe that Sue Ellen has applied for an extension?"
Peter took another sip on his drink, "yes JR thats true but I don`t
think it would be very professional of me to discuss Ewing Oil with
the Chair of Westar".
JR laughed and agreed "well Pete, Westar is looking to to change
banks, and the First State Bank of Texas seems to be exactly what we
may be looking for". Peter smiled "Thats wonderful JR, we
would welcome your custom and if theres anything I can personally do
to help then please ask". JR stood up and looked thoughtful "well
there is one thing" JR said looking up.
Peter expressed
confusion, asking what this could be. JR walked behind his desk "I
want you to call in the Ewing Oil loan" he stated coolly.
Peter looked
surprised "well JR, you ,may be a very powerful force in Dallas
but thats not how I operate".
JR smiled. "Ewing Oil is small fry compared to Westar, not only
will you get our custom but im sure we can work out some personal agreement
which will benefit you considerably".
Peter smiled,
"well JR let me see what I can do, but you surprise me". "Hows
that?" JR asked.
"well"
Peter continued "with the problems Ewing Oil is having, calling
in that loan could destroy it, and the whole of the Oil industry knows
it was your daddys company, you`ll cripple it"
JR became
serious "I have my reasons, you concentrate on that loan, let me
worry about the rest"
Reporters
stood outside Ewing Oil as the security kept them in check. Sue Ellen
stood in her office talking to one of her advisors.
"the
fire is still raging Ms Ewing, " he explained.
Sue Ellen
paced her office in an angry manner "How the hell did this happen?"
she shouted "Has anyone got held of the Texas Energy commission
yet?".
The man
looked away "not yet, we can`t get hold of anyone,"
Sue Ellen
charged over to him "well thats good enough, every second is vital,
we are loosing money and fast, I find it very strange that these two
things have happened simultaneously".
The man
nodded "I agree, it is very odd".
Sue Ellen
thought for a moment "this whole thing stinks of JR, I want to
know what happened at Ewing 19 and get hold of someone at the Energy
Commission, I want answers, not excuses.......and where the hell is
Pam?".
Katherine
sat in her hotel room , she poured herself a glass of wine. She still
looked beautiful, her eyes were so expressive. She sat thoughtfully,
as a knock came at the door. She placed her drink down and walked over
to answer the door. Pam stood in the door way, Katherine invited her
in.
Katherine
asked if Pam wanted a drink, Pam declined the offer.
Katherine
sat down "theres a problem Pam, a big problem"
Pam looked
concerned "whats happened?"
Katherine
took a Kansas newspaper from her bag and put it down. Pam picked it
up the front-page headline showed "Body found
under farm".
"oh
my god" Pam expressed.
"we`ve
got trouble Pam, big trouble" Katherine explained
Pam looked
concerned.
Anita
Smithfield walked through the offices of Westar, and walked into JR`s
office.
JR sat
in his chair "what you got for me Anita?"
Anita pulled
out a paper from her bag "I just met with Ratigan, you may find
this interesting" she handed JR the newspaper.
JR read
the headline "Body found under farm". "my my" he
said. "so this is the farm in Kansas?"
Anita nodded
"exactly, the farm where Pam Ewing spent many months"
JR laughed
"I want to know who this man is, things are finally going my way,
not only will that Barnes woman be out of my life, but very soon Ewing
Oil will be back in my hands" He laughed again.
