DALLAS
- CLIFFHANGER
Not only did Dallas invent the infamous
JR but they also invented the season ending Cliffhanger. As
each season drew to a close viewers were left on the edge of
their seats with a finale that usually left one or several characters
lives in the balance.
It was a cliffhanger that brought Dallas its fame around the
world and that was the unforgettable episode where JR gets shot.
Who would of thought one simple scene could of caused such hysteria,
but it sure did.
The original idea for the ending of Season
2 was to have an angry Sue Ellen deciding to kill herself by
making a lethal drink of vodka and barbiturates, in bursts JR
drunk and looking for more to drink, he pushes her out the way
grabs her drink and downs it in one with Sue Ellen watching
silently on.But obviously they decided not to go with this,
so they shot him instead.
So lets kick off with the Mini Series
- not strictly a cliffhanger as the episodes at this stage were
all self contained.
DALLAS
- MINI SERIES
The Ewing Barbeque 1978 is in full swing
-

Pamela and Bobby break the news to the
family that Pamela is expecting the first Ewing grandchild and
force enemies - Jock and Digger to shake hands. The news devastates
poor Sue Ellen who feels her marriage is a failure - after all
these years married to JR she is yet to fall pregnant.

The truce between Jock and Digger lasts
approximately 5 minutes before old wounds are once again opened
- Digger heads straight for the whiskey and does a solo dance
perfomance to the 'Yellow Rose of Texas' . Meanwhile a drunk
JR makes a bitchy comment that Pamela has slept around - resulting
in Bobby punching his brother out, much to the amusement of
a drunk Sue Ellen who watches with glee.

To escape the party dramas Pamela decides
to spend some time alone at the top of the barn. Unforfunaelty
she isnt alone for long as JR climbs up to see her. A drunk
JR begs Pamela not to let Bobby leave Southfork. Pamela isnt
having any of this and trys to get away from him. She backs
away near to the edge......

Ooops - Pam falls back over the edge
to the ground below. JR looks over to see poor Pamela laying
flat out on the hay below. Sadly the accident causes Pam to
loose her baby.
