Christopher Ewing biography

“Notice of Intention to Adopt. To all interested parties. Male child’, age seven months. Abandoned at Dallas, Texas, on December 11, of last year. ” —Daily Commercial Record, 1982

As a child Christopher Ewing was a gentle-natured, charming young boy who grew up with a rather extended and confusing family, but despite his tangled start in life, he grew up with the Ewing name.

He was born on August 18, 1981, to Kristin Shepard and Jeff Farraday in Los Angeles, California.

Kristin, the younger sister of Sue Ellen Ewing,  had left Dallas for California some months earlier after confessing to shooting her sisters husband – JR.  During her time in California Kristin had become dependent on cocaine and met a drug dealer by the name of Jeff Farraday. Kristin became pregnant by Farraday and gave birth to Christopher.

Following Christopher’s birth Kristin returned to Dallas in an attempt to extort money from JR. One night night at Southfork, high on angel dust  Kristin fell off the balcony, hit her head on the poolside floor and was knocked nearly unconscious. Then she fell into the pool and drowned.

Farraday called Bobby Ewing and asked to meet. He tells Bobby that he was Kristin’s lover and companion in California, and that he knows where the baby is. He can’t meet the financial burdens of a child, so he figures that Bobby might be able to find a good family.

Farraday met Bobby at Reunion Arena and tells him that he can’t stay around Dallas much longer. Bobby asks how much he wants for the child and Farraday offers $ 25,000 which Bobby immediately accepts.

Not longer after Jeff Farraday was shot dead by drug dealers. They expected $ 50,000 in payment for a large shipment of cocaine and when Jeff didn’t pay up they killed up.

Eventually Pam and Bobby Ewing, who were unable to have children, adopted Christopher as their own son.

Pamela Ewing with baby Christopher

In 1983 Pamela’s mother Rebecca was killed in a plane crash leaving a substantial trust fund for Christopher.

His adoptive parents were divorced in 1983 and Christopher lived with his mother at her house in Dallas. In 1986 Pamela and Bobby reunited and after remarrying Pamela and Christopher moved back to Southfork Ranch. Christopher was happy that his family were reunited and he was back living at Southfork with his cousin John Ross.

in 1987 John Ross and Christopher had a mock gunfight in the house and Sue Ellen told them to take their game outside. Christopher went upstairs to look for a toy gun, but, failing to find one, decided to take Bobby’s revolver out of his closet. He headed back down the stairs to look for John Ross, and after some hide-and-seek, he spots him and takes a shot. Fortunately he missed and just shattered a screen door.

In May of that year Christoper discovers he is adopted when he hears his grandparents discussing it. Pam and Bobby comfort him about it and do their best to explain their reasons for not telling him before. But that same day Christopher’s life is thrown further into turmoil when his mother Pamela is involved in a terrible road accident and suffers third degree burns.

Bobby keeps Christopher away from the hospital, feeling it wasn’t in Christopher’s best interest to see his mother in her current condition. But Christopher ran away to the hospital feeling that the reason he is being kept away is due to the fact he is adopted.

The situation takes a turn for the worse when Pamela disappears from the hospital. She leaves a note for Bobby, who reads it aloud to the family. Pam says that she didn’t want anyone to see her the way she is now – least of all her husband and son. She also asks Bobby not to try and find her – ever

Christopher is left heart broken and despite Bobby’s reassurances he is convinced his mother left due to the fact he is adopted. Bobby tells Christopher that Pam has requested a divorce. Christopher figures that if Pam doesn’t want to be with them, then he doesn’t want to be with her either.

Later that same year Jeff Farradays sister Lisa Alden appeared in Dallas and took Bobby to court for custody of Christopher. Christopher tells the judge that he doesn’t want to be separated from his father, and Lisa decides to drop her case.

Christopher and John Ross remain close, despite the odd argument. In 1998 they discuss JR’s new wife Cally and the fact that they’ve done all right without mothers in their lives. They come to conclusion that women seem to be troublemakers. But despite this Christopher becomes close to his new aunt and at times feels lonely when he sees her getting on with John Ross.

In 1989 Christoper goes on his first date, accompanied by Bobby and his girlfriend April Stevens. Bobby realises his son is growing up fast.

That same year it is revealed that John Ross has an older brother James. James buys a new motorcycle and decides to take John Ross out for a spin, leaving Christopher alone at the house. That evening, John Ross taunts Christopher about being the baby of the family and a fight predictably ensues. Christopher goes to his room and starts firing darts at a picture of John Ross.

In 1990 Christopher begins to feel more secure and is delighted when Bobby marries April Stevens at Southfork. But once again his happiness is short lived when April is murdered whilst on honeymoon with Bobby in Paris.

In 1991 John Ross leaves Dallas to live with his mother in London. Christopher realizes how much he misses his cousin and in May 1991 takes a trip to  to visit him.

As the years pass Christopher grew into the new acumen and entrepreneurial vigor of the Ewing clan. Smart, attractive, effective, he has the guarded eyes of someone who’s already mixed it up with life. Like his daddy, Christopher has a passion for the land and environment.
