Victoria Principal back in Dallas?

Could Victoria Principal be heading back to Dallas to reprise her role of Pamela Ewing?
We received this email a few weeks back from a source on the production team
“Cynthia’s master plan is to slowly re-introduce characters from the original series. I kid you not, she has been telling people that she wants Victoria. They all know what they are up against to get her”
Rumors are circulating that a deal may have been been struck and Victoria will make an appearance in the first season.
If it’s true I’m sure this will delight many Dallas fans who feel the character’s exit was left open ended.
Would you like to see Victoria return and how do you think the character should make her comeback?

This is very simple people. I should have been a writer for this show because I understand these charecters very well. Pamela is a strong charecter, prideful and always determined to basically stand out as a woman and as a person. When the accident happen, this was a blow to her perfect world. This in contingent with phsyical problems turned her life upside down. What makes things easier is that Pamela did see Cliff in the dark room. At that point she thought she would die as the line said. She still had months to live. This physical problem went into remission. It would take her years to find herself. She has been secretly succesful in business through representatives. She will make her way back into Dallas through business. She has tried not to interfere in Bobby and Christophers life. When she was getting ready to come back, she found out Bobby had met Ann. When Pamela comes back, she should have some sort of blemish on her neck or face, something small as a reminder to the accident. Even the smaller things like touching her throat as she talks; she might occasionally get pain because her vocal chords were said to be damaged. She has no kids and has been a recluse. Other options might be that she feels Christopher needs an ally towards John Ross. She is not willing to have her step son being compromised by John Ross as Bobby was to JR. Believe me, I understand everyline and charecter like no one else…no joke. And I’m a historian with lots of writing experience lol. – John in San Antonio, Texas
I’ll continue watching Dallas with or without Pam and I appreciate many of the arguments for both sides of the debate regarding her possible return. However, I’d like to comment on the notion that a storyline involving such a late return of Pam to Dallas would be stretching people’s imagination too far. Possibly contents of the new series may already mitigate against my idea, but, could she have not already returned (both to good health and to Dallas)? What I mean is this:in the same way that viewers are brought back to the lives of the Ewings after having already missed so many developments in their lives, similarly Pam’s return is already one of these developments. Viewers need to catch up on Pam’s return by watching a retrospective explanation that has Pam returning to Dallas (and good health) at the earliest credible opportunity – following the reunion films perhaps. The incredibility of her remaining away from Bobby and especially Christopher for all these years would thus be massively reduced. The reintroduction of this character could initially be done in much the same way as Gary Ewings’s character was kept so much alive in the show, even in Ted Shackleford’s absence. Pam then has been back in the lives of the Ewings for some years whilst viewers have been absent. Bobby, Cliff and/or Christopher could do some retrospective story-telling to bring viewers up to date. Of course an explanation would be needed as to why Pam and Bobby did not reunite, but this may be easier to deal with than explaining a sudden return after a decade or two of absence. I am available for consultation if the producers are interested!
I agre with everyone 100%!!! Please bring Victoria Pincipal back to play Pamela Barnes Ewing once again, well missed her alot!!! (pout!!!)
I’d like to see Victoria back (-and all the other key cast members for that matter)-but I just think Pam’s face would be too much of a distraction. It’s nothing to do with just aging as suggested earlier. It’s to do with plastic surgery which has gone badly wrong! I do wish celebs would consider just allowing nature to take it’s course occasionally and perhaps rely instead on a few make up tricks and soft lenses. Victoria was a stunning woman but now Linda Gray looks wonderful and so natural by comparison. Still, face lifts only last a year so hopefully all is not lost.
Well, I for one, really hope Pam returns. She was an important character on the show. As much as she loved Bobby and Christopher, she wouldn’t stay away. I think she needs to be with Bobby. Bobby’s new wife seems okay from the previews, but she’s no Pam. The chemistry between Bobby and Pam was priceless. Bring her back!!
Bring Victoria/Pam back to Dallas? NO! Look, Victoria left the show, and likely would not be willing to return to the show that made her famous. Dallas moved on, and Pam is history. I would, however, like the fate of Pamela Barnes Ewing clarified. Did Pam die, as alluded to in the 12th season, or is she still alive somewhere? Considering Pamela’s adopted son Christopher is a major character in the new Dallas, we should be told whether he has inherited her significant fortune and business assets (Wentworth Industries stock, her share of Wentworth Tool & Die, etc.). These assets could be helpful to Christopher as he battles John Ross for control of Ewing Oil, Dallas and the world baby!
Excuse me? Did someone say that “Pamela Barnes Ewing” character is in one of the movies after the series ended?
I think they are mistaken unless you count the tribute show, and it talked about the goings on, and Victoria said to Patrick she had a crush on him, and hoped she be chosen as Pam not Sue Ellen.
Otherwise,I must be missing that clip when she appeared.
Could they load up that clip that she appeared in the telemovie?
And show me that Pam appeared.
Otherwise, it could be a great cliff hanger for the first season,
and just have Christopher get a phone message, and it be her voice on the other end, “Hello Christopher, it is me, your mom,Pamela” and he plays it back to Uncle Cliff. Cliff says, “Oh My God! She’s Alive”!
Fast forward to season two of the new series.
Cliff plays the message to Bobby and Christopher just stares at him, gives Bobby a punch to the jaw, saying, “Why didn’t you go after her”?!?
I hope PAM comes back, if VP accepts to return, it would be fantastic, if not I hope the production would think about recasting the character, anyway it would be easy after all these years, VP herself doesn’t look like PAM
Please bring Pam back. I am a BIG Dallas fan. I had the opportunity to visit South Fork this year, and if I die tomorrow, I will be happy that I got to visit SF. I could really imagine Pam and the rest of the cast being in the ranch house. When Pam left it was like a family member leaving. No one can replace Pam, it would really be a shame if her character was replaced by someone else. Bobby and Pam were the idea couple.
I really hope she returns to the series–Harriette
Some people are saying that the original Dallas began going down when Victoria Principal left. I have to politely disagree. I believe the show became in jeopardy after Patrick Duffy left because it torn into the wonderful, captivating theme of Bobby and Pam tackling the world. However, Victoria Principal (one of the most likable character in Dallas) wonderfully saved the show from extreme deterioration when she became one of the focal points in the season of Angelica Nero. Pam became both Pam/Bobby. I did appreciate Jamie and Jack’s roles and wished that could have been developed more definitely (even though Dack Rambo passed away afterwards). When Patrick Duffy came back, the show had an excellent chance to get back on perfect track even though we were all concerned that Jenny Wade and Lucas, John Calhoun, Bobby’s revived interest in Ewing Oil would cause Pam and Bobby’s relationship to go bad again. Dallas in spirit was recovering until Victoria Principal decided to leave. Then, that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. It became impossible for the show to get back to original form. I thought the producers should have done a better job of preparing for VP’s departure (and better job of preventing it). In their disappointment (of not landing a contract with VP), they thought that they could make her disappear in irrelevancy until they began realizing that their fan base was disappearing. Technically, it can be called the beginning of the end regarding VP’s departure. But, I feel that it began happening already and VP’s departure clinched it.
Carl, I don’t really see your comment as a disagreement. You conclude by saying that VP’s departure clinched the demise of the show. And most of indeedagree that her departure had a significant impact on the show, whether or not it’s decline began with the dream sequence or shortly thereafter, or with the car crash… bottom line is the show was not nearly as good without her.
Just bring back Pam (Victoria) in the show. Only VP can be PAM. Get the story more interesting like: Pam returns with hers and Bobby’s daughter. she was discovered in Europe by Jackie (Cliff’s secretary and also Pam’s friend)and persuade her to return. TO make it more realistic, after the accident she was actually kidnapped by katherine and she also found out that she was pregnant. When she recovered, she managed to escape from katherine and decided to move to europe with her daughter.
The beautiful actress who played Jackie sadly passed away. She was the daughter of Lenorard Katzman.
Am I the only one that heard the reason she left the show was because of the suffering she went through with the crippling authritus. She has the same problem her mother has had and that is why she left the show to begin with. All this other stuff about being negative about the show, I have never heard her say any of this. I am all for her coming back. No-matter what anyone says, Dallas has not been the same without her and Jock and Miss Ellie, we had to accept they were gone, but we have an option with Pam’s Character and like it or not, you should not even include Christopher in the show if Pam is not going to be there. I love Bobby J.R. and Sue Ellen, but it needs as much of the original backbone for the new characters to even have a chance or it will be another Melrose Place.
The reunion movies I watched were just never the same without Pam. We had to accept the absence of Jock and Miss Ellie, but Pam could fill in the gap. I have never heard Victoria say negative things about the show. I understood that she left because of the crippling authritus she was suffering from. Her mother had this issue and as Victoria neared the end of her last appearances on Dallas, she was having extreme pain. I am so surprised that as many fans have made comments that not another soul as even mentioned this.
Be great to have the whole family back, and not just in the pilot.
I would love to see Victoria Principal back as Pam on the new Dallas series.I can’t wait to watch the new series.

I guess I did overstate my case. Anyway I will be watching regardless and hope that whatever the writers are scripting results in TNT bringing in whatever target demographic advertising dollars they are going for so the show can continue for many seasons!
do you really think the producers and writers are going to listen to us the viewers.
Oh i would love pam bobby and christopher to be reunited and fight jr and john ross.
i dont think bobby ann and christopher going to work as well as pam bobby and christopher would, so please bring them three back together and forget about ann.
Pamela regardless of how ill she was would never have left the one true love of her life and that was bobby and she adored christopher with all her heart.
I love Victoria Principal and i miss her a lot, but with or without Victoria, they have to bring back Pam. For us fans. Back then, the way they cut the role from the show was done very badly. Pam loved Bobby and Christopher so much, why they make her leave like that. She has to be back, if it’s only for an episode, but she has to be back, to explain and then we will be in peace. I know that the last time we saw Pam, she said that she was dying, but we can’t assume that she died.
PLEASE BRING BACK PAM
TO BE A HUGE SUCCESS DALLAS’TNT NEED PAMELA!!!! WE ARE ALL WAITING THAT FOR YEARS!!!The end of this character was never explane…we are all frustated , nothing in the end of the serie , nothing in tv movies….we all hope Victoria will come back next summer!!!!!Pamela is not Dallas but Dallas without Pam is not Dallas!
This is not old Dallas, this is new Dallas. It may as well be a whole new show. Victoria would only come back for a short stint. Do you really think they are going to ditch Brenda Strong, an actress known for a recent high profile hit show , for Victoria Principal
Victoria would need to become a character apart from Bobby. That would ruin the old show and undermine the new new set-up.
I say, bring back as many of the original cast as possible, ESPECIALLY Victoria. I would not even give the new show a chance if it weren’t for the presence of JR, Bobby, and Sue Ellen. I was disappointed that Cliff wasn’t among the cast, but now he is, and it seems Ray and Lucy have slightly expanded rolls. There needs to be a solid presence of the original characters to give weight and meaning to the new story lines. There would be no real draw for original fans otherwise. Pam has not been a way too long to be relevant. Fans still remember those story lines more than anything that happened AFTER Pam’s departure. Ratings were slipping then and the show was on its way out… so who really remembers Dallas without Pam, except for the feeling that it was “bad” or “boring” or “not the same” or “slipping”?
At least they won’t need to use any fancy make up to get round the ‘horribly disfigured / drastic plastic surgery’ excuse…
I’m affraid vintage Dallas fans will have to accept this new show is not another nostalgic “reunion” number 3, but a brand new “Dallas”… A new audience has to be caught up…
As we use to say in France: Dallas est mort, vive Dallas.
It would be cool to see Pam return and I am looking forward to see how they write her back in.
Maybe she was abducted by aliens and they cured her from her terminal illness that she supposed to of had.
Or maybe she had her body frozen by cryonics until a cure was found.
I think that these are way out storylines that only Dallas could pull off.

Or maybe she had her body frozen by cryonics until a cure was found. She had the finances available for this.

It would be wonderful for all of us fans to see victoria coming back ;her and Patrick are my favorite actors; amazing chemistry between them ;I hope it’s really going to happen so let’s cross our fingers
PAM = VICTORIA PRINCIPAL
:):):):):)
EXCITED already with the news. Victoria, please return to DALLAS. Most ppl watched DALLAS just to see you…I do. I love Bobby and Pam together. Their character are what true love means…
The original Dallas declined after Pam left. She was the heart of the show and this new Dallas needs her also. I have waited decades for Pam’s return and had lost hope tat it could ever happen. If she returns, I will be ecstatic!
No don’t bring her back. While Pam was great the storyline that would have to be developed to bring her back would be a throwback to Dallas at its worst. The new series must have good, reality based scripts in order to survive. Audiences today are not going to accept the ridiculous stories like in the past. Plus Cynthia Cidre said the show wasn’t going to be campy. I think bringing someone “back from the dead” after an explosion and pretending to run away with a doctor to hide the fact she’s dying is camping (and convoluted).
Well, I disagree 100%. Bringing Pam back would be immensely exciting and huge for ratings. Written correctly it would be brilliant and very much in line with this kind of show. These things were always possible in Dynasty, Dallas, Falcon Crest, Desperate Housewives… It doesn’t have to be camp… It can be drama, but these shows will never be and should never be totally true to life— how boring that would be.
Well my comments were wiped for some reason anyway, so I guess my points weren’t appreciated!??? Anyway I don’t think anyone would expect this show to mirror real life. I do think that for the show to be successful it should emulate the seasons (1 thru 6) when it was more reality based and you didn’t have things like Pam treking to a jungle emerald mine (incredibly dull by the way). Cynthia Cidre interview indicated this was going to be a melodrama and to bring back Pam I think the audience would be asked to suspend to much disbelief.
What if they brought her back with the scars from the accident? Would that be REAL enough? Just put an ending to storyline and this character. This has gone on long enough. We all should be happy to have DALLAS back.
No it wouldn’t be “REAL” enough. You would have to deal with the storyline that took place. Look! It’s Pam after she was blown up in a explosion and then ran away as a mummy and then had plastic surgery and then faked being in love with her doctor to hide the fact she was dying! But somehow she didn’t die but hid out for 25 years. Maybe as someone suggested she could explain it by having been kidnapped by aliens. BTW you mentioned bringing her back as scarred, sarcasm (or if you prefer scarcasm)I know, but it wouldn’t work anyway since she looked fine when she did her ‘I love my doctor’ scene. You want an ending to the character and storyline? Mention her ocassionally and for the most part ignore her. I guess being happy Dallas is back means supporting every idea.
If you look closely at Margaret Michaels in the Pam role, she look to have some scars. Bruce, not meaning to offend or start an argument. Was just stating my view on the subject. Forgive me if it was taken the wrong way.
Victoria back on Dallas would be a true gift for this Dallas fan!!! Whether you are a Pam fan or not – I feel most viewers would agree the show went downhill without her. She was the heroine to compliment Patrick Duffy/Bobby the hero and was the Juliet to his Romeo. Without a female heroine/and popular couple to root for played perfectly by Victoria Principal and Patrick Duffy – the show was uneven. April/Sheree J Wilson came close to fulfilling that role but of course she was killed off before a Bobby/April married life storyline could develop.
As a Dallas fan I also felt cheated on how Pam exited and felt her abandonment of Bobby, Cliff and especially Christopher was lazy writing and completely out of character. I would love a reintroduction of Pam permanently or at least a closing fitting the character.
Dallas was at it’s best when it had strong intelligent female characters to balance the actions of their male counterparts – namely Miss Ellie, Sue Ellen, Pam and Donna. Four great characters played by four talented actresses.
The Dallas powers that be underestimated the importance of their female leads which I think was a big part of the show’s downfall. In the last few seasons the female leads such as Cally, Michelle, Vanessa Beaumont etc… couldn’t hold a candle to the intelligent sympathetic female characters like Miss Ellie, Pam, Sue Ellen and Donna.
I vote “yes” for Pam’s return just because it would be so very entertaining! I heard someone make the point that perhaps Pam had not returned (until now) because she hadn’t been strong enough, or she was too afraid to return until now. Her return might be implausible, but crazy things happen in soap operas. Done right, this could easily be as big as “Who Shot J.R.” because we (the fans) know “Dallas” history by heart. We lived it week by week. I don’t think Pam would return to break up Bobby’s and Ann’s marriage. I think she’d return to make J.R. squirm. She would return to be there for Christopher (just like Sue Ellen is going to be there for John Ross). Pam would definitely “steal” the show, just like Alexis stole “Dynasty.”
FINALLY PAM RETURNS !!!
HER DEPARTURE WAS THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF “DALLAS” and it was NEVER the same without her.
The only way I will watch the new “DALLAS” is with PAM AND BOBBY REUNITED !!!!
She should return the way ALEXIS did on “DYNASTY” to seek revenge against JR, whom it is learned caused the accident to happen. She finally recovered after years of pain and surgery to seek revenge and get her husband and son back……..
Yes, I think it is fantastic! Pam Ewing is a big part of Dallas (considering that she is Christopher’s adopted mother and that Paw was a top star during the season that Bobby left). I do not know what plans that they will have for her (especially since Bobby is married). It may even be a closure (hopefully much more than that). Even way, I like the idea a whole lot.
This would be amazing – 1st series cliffhanger
This would be amazing – 25yrs is how long I have been waiting
This has got to be the cliffhanger for the 1st series
A couple of nay sayers on here trying to spoil everyone’s fun, like Mary, but I believe the overwhelming majority of Dallas fans want Pam/Victoria back. The show really wasn’t good after she left and ratings bear that out. But we are all entitled to differing opinions and I respect that. But I agree with those who desperately want Pam back and feel she would add tremendously to the new show. What excitement if she is really come back.
And it is not accurate at all to say that Victoria Principal has spoken only negatively about Dallas…. not at all… she simply left that job to do other things, and she did participate in one very heartfelt reunion which was so wonderful… her interacting with Bobby and Cliff…!
There is no canonic proof that Pam is dead. She could easily have been in a coma. Why keep insisting she is dead? Did you see the dead body?
Pam awaking after a 25 years coma? Is it worth? Could it be as realistic as it has to be?

Dallas does NOT need Pam. Victoria has been negative about Dallas for years. The new series does not need that.
I love the idea of VP returning. Now that would be some drama and ratings gold. I hope this is true. I’m watching my old dvds 2 get back in2 the groove 4 the continuation 20 yrs ahead
We need Pam, and Victoria, back at all costs. This would probably be the biggest coup in TV history, and a tribute to the fans and to the glory of the original series. The way Pam was written out of the show was just so poorly done, with no respect and no closure. Pam wouod never have left Bobby, Cliff, and Cristopher. I don’t know what this means for Bobby and Ann, but Dallas needs Victoria.
Victoria Principal PLEASE comeback to the new DALLAS, at least for one episode. My partner & I are rewatching all the seasons of the original as we prepare for the return of Dallas. You were so great & so loved on Dallas. You deserved an Emmy for your outstanding work on the show. Please make your fans happy!
The years of Dallas without Pam I would say were the Lucy without Ricky on The Lucy Show. Get her back and what a great ratings tool.
I do not want to see that Barnes woman back on the show!
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my god YES YES bring her back I hope it’s true ,I’m so exited
I am to excited. Pamela must return for me to watch
Wonderful but I think she should come back and die in Bobby’s arms.
NO NO NO. Pamela Ewing is DEAD do not bring her back to Dallas
I’d rather not see this either. She is dead and we really don’t need another shower scene.
OMG this is just amazing news. PLEASE BE TRUE
I knew she would come back
Perhaps Pam was locked away in a mental facility or Katherine kidnapped her. It does happen
Hardly. Katherine is dead!
*Spoiler* Katherine’s death was part of Pam’s dream, it didn’t really happen, and Katherine did appear in season 11, just before Pam disappeared.
Even if Victoria doesn’t come back, I do hope we see Morgan Brittany return, I think Katherine owes us some answers.
Jim, you’re not up to date with what she said recently!
Josh: perfectly said – “bonanza” and “trump card”, yup!
Victoria has said repeatedly she will not do it – she’s done the “Dallas” thing, and won’t return to it.
If so, I think we’d all better pack our coats — it will be a cold day in He!!
