I’m so pleased to have Dallas back, BUT……..I’ve watched this video over and over and I can’t shake off the feeling that it’s so far removed from what made the original series so popular. It looks just that bit too flashy, glossy yet somehow sterile feel we get in shows nowadays, in the vein of 90210 or The Hills. I know it’s the next generation of Ewings, but I, like so many of the fans, want characters that I care about. I know there was a lot of sex and revenge played out in the original series, but if this just turns into an excuse to see (the admittedly very handsome) Jesse Metcalfe with his shirt off endlessly again, or young nubile girls acting like “tramps”, as JR would say, then I’ll get bored. What made Dallas so great were the stories and characters……judging by this video, to me,it’s looking nothing more than a million other shows with a hot, young cast which is graciously including a tenuous link to the original to draw in viewers who want to see JR and Sue Ellen. I don’t know if anyone is getting my point…..I just want Dallas to feel like Dallas. All I see is a veritable list of “which are the sexiest stars on USA tv at the mo” as opposed to “only such and such could have played this role”…..although I do think Josh Henderson is a good choice for John Ross, I hasten to add. Time will tell….

As for me,I’m also looking forward to the new dallas very much but one very important question always comes to mind:how will it be solved that Ewing Oil is back in Ewing hands again?
If this is a continuation and not a remake, which is evident,Ewing Oil should somehow be got back from Cliff Barnes.

Does anybody know if there will be referred to this in the new show?

Ewing Oil was, thanks to JR’s mechinations, bought back by Bobby in the first reunion movie in 1996. In order to pay JR back for tricking him into getting back into the oil business, Bobby then sold 50% of the company to Sue Ellen, not realizing that that was part of JR’s plan as well. JR took over Westar Oil, although it is obvious from the preview that he no longer holds that lofty position. This was,in fact, one of the rare times that JR’s master plan completely worked out.

Shall it take one year too for Cynthia Cidre to release a few words…?
I m not going to wait for 12 months, I m gonna get bored about all that fuzz and watch vintage seasons and forget about this new Dallas. Come on! This is no teasing, this is pure nonsense… A pilot has just been shot, it should be on air by fall! Would’nt it be a wonderful Christmas present? (but networks are no Santa Claus, we know it..):p

I cannot wait for this!! I completely agree with the number of episodes. Two of the most popular shows “Dexter and “True Blood always have 12 episodes. I think that this allows for a far better cliffhanger and more time for character development. There are so many plot possibilities given that the show has been dormant for 20 years which allows for endless possibilities given the HUGE fan base Dallas has maintained. If the success is great imagine that they could bring Gary & Val’s twins into the mix down the road…I just wish WB would wake the hell up and release the other seasons of KNOTS!!!

Since the new Dallas is focusing on the younger Ewings, I think it would make sense to include the Lucas Krebbs character. He could be a useful ally to his cousin John Ross. Plus, there is built in tension with him and Christopher. Lucas is Bobby’s only biological child; he is a Ewing where “cousin” Christopher is not. Perhaps Lucas could demand his birthright – Southfork and part of Bobby’s share of Ewing Oil. John Ross could manipulate his cousin’s insecurities and ambition to help defeat Christopher on the ranch and in the boardroom!

I ‘m afraid to many people expect “Dallas 2012″ to be “Dallas”… Of course I will watch, how could I resist?? But, we’ve got to accept that past is past… I was 17 by then, I’m 42 now (holly crap! please shot me!)
I’m sure it’ll be a wonderful show (let’s see the trailer from TNT)Nowadays TV’s quality is close to movies, beautiful lights, cameras have improved since the 80′s. Writters write for TV as they would write for the big screen… No such differences.
But, let be honest, we just loved the camp side of prime time soap… Katherine’s madness, Wes Parmalee claiming he’s Jock, Marilee Stone’s hysteria (a character I worshiped and a nice person: she is on facebook and answer your message, which is very kind of her and so RARE…) etc. etc.
As far as I’m concerned, “Dallas” the way we knew it died when Jordan Lee was murdered… It was like a sign…

pity lame Jesse Metcalfe (or however it’s spelled) is in it. Couldn’t the producers find somebody who could really act?

Looks great…! Just hearing that Texan theme tune gets me excited… Lets hope we see those iconic opening credits back too… that would be true Dallas! Too long to wait though… Linda Gray looks AMAZING. She looks better now than she did then…

reason for the long wait is production for the other 9 episodes doesnt start filming till the end of august/beginning of september. It will take almost 4-6 months to film the entire season. You also have to take in account they do not film during the holidays so Nov and Dec no filming will take place. Then you have editing and all that fun stuff which will take an additional month-month and a half. That brings it up to spring 2012. It will air in the summer 2012 if ratings are really good which is a no brainer. Ratings will be through the roof. Then it will return in the fall for season 2…

It takes 4-6 months to film 9 episodes? One is already in the can (and will be nearly one and a half years old when finally seen). Dallas used to film exterior shots for the first 12 episodes of each season in TWO months. That was for the far more expansive Dallas of the late ’70/’80s which had a far larger cast and more storylines. There was a time when episodes filmed in July and August were still on air by October – of the SAME year! I will wait (have no choice) and will watch when episodes are finally aired next year. This show could and should be on this fall. Remember when networks actually started new seasons in the fall?

This is amazing Dallas was the best of them all and I can’t wait to see what the young Ewings are up to. I’m glad it’s a continuation and not a remake and I totally think that it will work with the new cast like real life things move on and although it’s great to see old faces and hopefully some skeletons from the past it has to focus on the new generation so it can appeal to new fans as well as those of us who remember and love the original series so much and go on for more than one short season of 10 episodes. The trailer looks amazing long live DALLAS! Woop Woop!

@ Kate Vickery She said: “don’t be afraid of change, my friend” and she is right. The show has to built it’s own “mythology” but
also have respect the past. (That also means the new “mythology” shoud be canon with the old one)

I cant wait to see the show on TV. Dallas is FINALLY back on 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From what little one can see in these fast-moving clips, the show looks amazing (as does Linda Gray!). I cannot wait for my favorite show to be back. Still don’t understand why we have to wait an entire year to see it though. The pilot was filmed months ago and will be nearly 1.5 years old by the time it’s viewed. Dallas is worth the wait though. So glad to see the Ewings back at Southfork Ranch (Lucy and Ray there as well). I thought I read that Priscilla Presley was going to return also. Hopefully we will get to see Donna, Cliff, Jenna – hell, even Teresa and Raul!

Looks very authentic, and takes me way back. Dallas was a lot of fun, it gave me 10 years (from 78), and I tried after that to watch, but I couldn’t always because I began studying and living life, and of course I missed the Bobby and Pam story. Well, these days, there has never been as much choice on TV but I think there is room for Dallas. I’m not a die-hard fan, just a fan, and it will be good to revisit the story of the Ewing family. I miss my once weekly fix of dastardly behaviour, someone getting used, someone getting owned, and someone getting revenge. I’m saying this to fans and yet-to-be fans, there were some brilliant characters back in the day, not only the main family but also the lovers, and enemies and when the two became one. Who doesn’t love a good enemer?

If the preview is anything to go by it appears Cynthia Cidre has nailed the drama Dallas was known for in its early years. I have been reading on some forums that fans are wondering why only 10 episodes? I think this is a clever move on the producers part and one only has to look at the British ratings hit, “Downton Abbey”. Why drag a TV series on for 24 episodes where fans could begin to lose interest and risk having the show cancelled? Best to keep the episodes to a minimum therefore maintaining a captive audience.

Gobsmacked! Dallas looks amazing, i cannot wait!!!!

When you hear the words ‘reboot’, ‘remake’, ‘continuation’ etc etc you worry but oh boy it looks like they have completely nailed this one!

Any concerns i had about Jesse Metcalfe as Christopher have gone, he looks very strong in this and i cannot wait to see J.R and bobby square off once more.

    Roll on next year!!!!!!!

Wow,does this ever look like a winner! CBS should have done this and we wouldn’t have to wait a year. This should take the bad taste of “War of the Ewings” out of our mouths.
