Sorry for the huge review, but I’m really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.
The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

By the end of first episode Bobby should go to the bathroom… and find Pamela having a shower -;)))
No. April in the shower.
It has became quite obvious that everybody (among vintage Dallas audience at least) wants to know “What ever happened to Pamela Jean Barnes Ewing?” As far as I m concerned she ought to be dead!! She struggled so hard to adopt a child and she was so in love with Bobby, that she has no excuse for those 20 years of silence. And for God’s sake, no amnesia or coma. It’s not “Days of our lives”!

It’s fine getting new people, please don’t forget about the original cast members or it will fail. And their should be a Cliff Jr. to keep the Ewing feud going.

I think it is very hard to ignore the past characters, especially the Ewing blood. I think it would be very interesting to bring Margaret (ray & Donna’s kid). She is just about the right age and it seems she may harbor some issues regarding her parentage and the Ewing family. I just don’t know how you couldn’t have Lucy and her kid(s). I agree! Please begin airing vintage episodes to tie in the younger characters! (You cannot ignore the fact that John R. was born to a raging alcoholic, he’s GOT to have some issues…).
I agree that Margaret Krebbs would make a good addition. Margaret, like her cousin/step brother Lucas Krebbs, would be 24 years old. These two would add some youth to help (with John Ross and Christopher) balance out the aging cast of originals. Also, Lucas would provide some tension and conflict with Bobby’s adopted son Christopher. As Bobby’s only biological child, Lucas could lay claim to some of Bobby’s assets (50% of Ewing Oil, all of Southfork and hundreds of millions of dollars). Margaret could perhaps be like her cousin Lucy, a saucy, promiscuous little tart that gives Ray and Donna headaches. So many possibilities.
I think the show should move forward also, but do not forget the past either. We are talking a southern family and in the south, family comes first. So, you are going to have to bring Ray, Gary, and Lucy around at some point. It is the natural thing to do. No one said they would be there to stay, but a nice visit would be GREAT!! I would LOVE to see how Cally has grown since her days with JR and their mysterious child we know nothing about, where Michele finally ended up, a story about Donna and Ray’s daughter, some conflict with Lucas, that James Beaumont was not really JR’s son, and the Pam story to be ended once and for all.
One of the first orders of business should be to verify that Pamela Barnes Ewing is in fact dead and has been for some time. There could be a scene of a meeting at Harv Smithfield’s law firm where Bobby and Christopher are updated regarding their inheritence of Pam’s estate. All of Pam’s money (never specified, but alled to be hundreds of millions of dollars) would go to her only child Christorpher. The Wentworth Industries stock and Pam’s one third of Wentworth Tool & Die would go to (or remain with) Bobby. Then for an added twist, the Ewing’s attorney could inform them that Katherine Wentworth’s fortune, including her 2/3 ownership of Wentworth Tool & Die and her huge block of Wentworth Industries stock, has been siezed by the Feds (as Katherine is a fugitive from the law living somewhere in Europe) and will be divided equally by her only living relatives Christopher Ewing and Cliff Barnes. This would give Christopher some much needed money and power which he can use in his business tangles with cousin John Ross and brother Lucas Krebbs. John Ross could be told that the billions of dollars (half of Ewing Oil, controlling interest in Westar Oil, movie studios, vast real estate holdings) controlled by his parents JR and Sue Ellen Ewing, are at his disposal to fight Bobby, Christopher and Cliff. John Ross also has millions of dollars of his own through the trust funds set up for him by Jock, JR and Sue Ellen.
I still wish Cliff was coming back.
“But guys we really can’t have every character from 30 years coming back, the show would die a quick death. It needs to stand on its own 2 feet and find a new audience to go with a returning fanbase.”
I do agree with Rich. It has to be a new show to catch a new audience, the “Dallas” I enjoyed as a teenager (and still enjoy) ended in 1991… It IS gonna be great to see Linda Gray and Larry Hagman again (and whoever will join the cast again)… But if I want to see vintage “Dallas” I’ve got the DVD… The right question is: what character is really useful to start up new plots in this new “Dallas”? Considering that the feud Ewing/Barnes is over, I like Cliff, but he belongs to the past… Times have changed… And two or three lines to understand Pam is dead (even if I loved the character) should be enough… I love my memories but it’s past…!
So happy Brenda was cast. Melissa Gilbert and her so operated and strange face was an awful choice!!!
Brenda will be great!
And what a wonderful couple with Patrick!
Interesting choice, perhaps a little ‘preppy’. Time will tell i guess.

I’m sure Cliff will appear in the early episodes once it goes to series. Can’t picture why Lucy or Ray would be needed, they both had clean exits.
2 weeks – can’t wait to see some set pics!!!!!
Why is Cliff not being considered for a return???
Interesting choice. Now lets get Ray, Lucy, and Pamela back.
