Melissa Gilbert heading to Dallas pilot

Little House on the Prarie star Melissa Gilbert auditioned today for a part  in the TNT Dallas pilot to star alongside Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy. If she wins the part, Melissa will star as Ann Ewing, wife to Bobby Ewing.

After the audition Melissa wrote on her Twitter account “Audition went really well. They didn’t see me shaking like a chihuahua!! Now we wait.”

What do you think?

Update Wednesday 23rd:

Apparently an offer has gone out to Melissa so it looks like she will be the next Mrs Ewing if she accepts.

Update

Melissa is not heading to Dallas afterall. Seems the production office is a bit confused……

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

Sorry for the huge review, but I’m really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.

I am guessing that Melissa won’t be coming to Southfork, as she just posted on Twitter:

Yo tweeps! Just found out that the folks at Dallas made an offer to another actress last night. Bummer but, I’m ready fir what’s next.

I love the Melissa Gilbert choice. Lisa Hartman would have been great too.

I think it should be revealed that, since Kristen Sheppard is Christopher’s biological mother, that J.R. is Christopher’s biological father. The document that stated otherwise in the Dallas series was pre-DNA testing. It could have been forged by J.R. Maybe J.R. confronted Pam with this and gave her an ultimatum to either leave Dallas or he’ll take Christopher away from Bobby. That would be the only good reason why a loving Pam would walk away from her son, so that he can be raised by Bobby.

Also, Pam and Bobby almost didn’t get to adopt due to Val’s book in Knots Landing, Capricorn Crude, which was loosely based on the Ewings. Perhaps Val could be writing a sequel to her book and stumbles upon a live-and-well Pam.

Jr is not the Father. Pam and Bobby found out that Kristin had lost Jr’s baby. Kristin had Chris by a Jeff something or other and he came back later to blackmail Bobby. The guy’s Sister came back the season Pam had gone to try and gain custody of Chris. She and Jr worked together to put preasure on Bobby.

I honestly don’t recall all those details, but I don’t dispute your vivid memory. My heart was, and still is, in Knots Landing. But since it was before DNA, I think they could probably pull it off. If we’re to believe that silly dream, then we can believe anything, right? LOL I wasn’t a fan of the dream scenario, especially since Bobby’s death brought some great story and major inconsistencies to the folks over at Knots that could never be resolved. Knots never mentioned the the Ewings in Dallas ever again after that.

WHY do not ask Margaret Michaels? (which I personnally bought easily as a new Pam). She’s not an anonymous actress from nowhere, she happened to be part of the cast once… John Ross and Christopher have been recasted, why not re-cast Pam? We’ll have to accept John Ross with a new face, though Omri Katz was so familiar (and present in the first TV movie). The last time Victoria Principal was seen as Pam was more than 20 years ago! Many characters were re-casted: Kristin, Jenna, Gary, Ellie etc. The problem is… Where has gone Margaret Michaels… ? Anybody heard of her…?
Otherwise let’s kill and bury that Barnes woman at last!! ;)
PS: Sorry, for my English, but I’m still French. I haven’t been re-casted…

Victoria gave a great interview on another Dallas site and I am convinced that if things were handled right she would come back..

She sounded like it would really be something she would entertain should the feel and situation be right and in keeping with the flavor of the true Dallas so I am hoping.. there are really a few great ways to handle bringing her back that capture what she would like to see with regard to “making it right” and what a true “Romeo and Juliet” scenario for Pam and Bobby after twenty something years now!!!!! Its classic romance and soap television at its finest!!

Obviously we all want Pam back but if that is not to happen then us Dallas Fans and the character of Pam needs closure,we deserve that much.

Agreed Leigh but apparently Cynthia Cidre (Exec Producer) would love Victoria back if a series is green lit. So perhaps it’s worth to wait a bit.

I agree. The “loose ends” regarding the Pam character have been dangling far too long. As the show is returning with the Ewing family members from the original (the show is itself simply a continuation), then the Pam matter should be put to rest. I read on this site that Victoria Principle believes that Pam is alive as long as she is alive. Wrong. Sorry Vic, you don’t own the character of Pam and cannot hold it “hostage” by refusing to reappear in the series. I believe it should be noted in the pilot that Pam’s death has been confirmed by the Ewings and perhaps have a scene where Christopher meets with his attorney to discuss his inheritence from his mother. Christopher could then say he’ll use the hundreds of millions of dollars, Wentworth Industries stock, etc. to fight John Ross and his “brother” Lucas (who has rejected Ray as his father after a huge fight and is now publicly the sole, biological heir to Bobby Ewing’s fortune.

I’m lukewarm about Gilbert in the role of Bobby’s wife. She’s not a bad choice but not an exciting one either. The age difference between Gilbert and Duffy is too great, in my opinion. I would prefer someone a little more earthy and closer to Duffy in age, someone like Cybil Shepherd. Gilbert is a little bland, but at least she’s likable enough. I’m having a hard time imagining Gilbert and Duffy together, seeing them more as brother and sister than husband and wife.

Two of my fav shows growing up were “Little House” and Dallas. Melissa is a terrific actress. Everyone on “Little House” was great. They should all be proud of their work on that show. It’s still popular today and much loved. It’s sad to see someone maybe get typecast and not appreciated for the obvious talent they have. Melissa deserves at least a good TV role. She is a wonderul choice. I’m definitely in if she is.

I love the choice, someone with name recognition and she fits the part. Bobby would likely marry a younger, hot woman who fits the “Pam” mold and Gilbert certainly does. She’s a great dramatic actress.

I think she is a great choice, could already picture her with Bobby. Her connection to TNT and SAG will help. Can’t wait to see her at the Southfork pool!

Like her a lot!! Melissa Gilbert is about 15 years younger then Duffy and is good friends with Victoria Principal so she is a prefect choice to play Ann Ewing.

I think Melissa Gilbert is brilliant casting. I can definitely picture her as Mrs. Ewing alongside Bobby.
I also feel very strongly that we need Victoria Principal back for this… I still believe the show was never the same without her, and her departure always felt unfinished.

I like her. Apparently she is friends with Victoria Principal, so perhaps through some of Melissa’s coaxing, she can get Victoria back at some point and they can face off. :)
