Jesse Metcalfe cast as Christopher Ewing in Dallas TNT pilot
Jesse Metcalfe will play Bobby and Pam’s adoptive son Christopher Ewing in the TNT pilot.
Jesse famed for his role in Desperate Housewives will play the volatile Christopher, who battle it out with Josh Henderson’s John Ross. For those of you who don’t know, Christopher’s real mother is Kristen Sheperd who famously shot JR.
Meanwhile Julie Gonzalo will play the role of Rebecca Sutter, who engaged to Jesse’s Christopher Ewing.
Julie is is an Argentine-American actress. She is perhaps best known for her roles as Parker Lee in Veronica Mars, Shelby in A Cinderella Story and Maggie Dekker in Eli Stone. She has been in two movies with Chad Michael Murray: Freaky Friday (2003) and A Cinderella Story (2004). She also starred in two movies with Jamie Lee Curtis: Freaky Friday (2003) and Christmas with the Kranks (2004). She also guest-starred in the pilot episode of Drake and Josh. Gonzalo has been cast in the lead of NBC’s upcoming Day One
I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
Sorry for the huge review, but I’m really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.
Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

I had a blast on the set as one of the extras. I am one of the oil riggers, going to be a awesome pilot episode. It was an honor to meet Patrick Duffy and see him work. Josh Henderson does a hell of a job.
Metcalfe is not a good fit for Dallas with all of those ugly tattoos. The Ewings are a conservative bunch. A tattooed Ewing will run away us older viewers. Sorry.

One good way to tell if the casting of josh lame holloway and jesse hoaky metcalfe were good ones. Imagine a bar. Imagine a bar fight. Imagine a bar fight where JH and JM fight Jim Davis and Steve Kanaly. yikes

Fingers crossed the pilot get’s picked up for a full series. I am really looking forward to a new series of Dallas.

I am happy that the project is finally getting greenlit and that it’s bringing back many of the originals to reprise their roles. Metcalfe should be an excellent choice for Christopher – despite some naysayers – and he’s originally from Texas (and coincidently was actually my first choice for the casting, as well!).
It’s funny… a lot of news outlets (not this one, of course ; p ) have actually been operating under the misconception that the show is a remake; that would imply that it’s a re-do or do-over of some kind… which it’s not. We know, of couse, it’s a relaunch and/or continuation of the original series, similar in concept to what was done with the most recent “90210″ and “Melrose Place” shows (although more people will probably care more about the “Dallas” show than those others… and hopefully it will be done much better than those as well ; p ).
I’ve been working with Bryan J. Kinnaird for the last year or so in developing a web comic for the Ultimate Dallas website [Google-search it] and hoping to usher in just this kind of re-launch.
Although it will have roots in an older idea/property, there is opportunity for the new series to blaze its own path a give a new generation of Ewings to the world to enjoy…

So, when is the official air date? Is the Southfork Ranch in Plano Texas the official home of this continuing series? Curious.
Just really happy that TNT is doing this show. If the writing is good and it sounds like it’s gonna be, then they will give it the time to get an audience! The old cast will be the anchor and the new cast will learn the ropes and become just as good!
Mmmmm….Jesse Metcalfe as Christopher….I think this is the first and hopefully the last mistake the casting team have made for the new Dallas series. No disrespect to Jesse but he simply doesn’t have the skill/talent needed to take on such a pivital and important role.
I really don’t know what to think of the ‘new’ Dallas. The original was such an incomparable show. I’m happy about the thought of a new show, with continuity with the original, but I just worry about it being stuffed up.

I’m okay with it, just don’t turn it into 90210. Keep the senior actors on the front burner. And shoot it in Dallas.
I am not counting it out since both actors bring different dynamics with them. Jesse has worked steadily in TV since he was a teen and I think it could work. I only remember Josh from Desperate Housewives when he knocked up Bree’s loosy goosy daughter. I think it is also important for the new actors to realize the amount of history they are stepping into. I am cheering for everyone as I feel that if it lasts one season I will have enjoyed that much, but let’s hope that the team being assembled is one that can go the distance. I love Dallas with my heart and soul, and that may sound silly, but it is true. I just hope the new actors realize what a great opportunity this is especially with TNT involved and their track record with quality TV.
I hope this show does good but it seems they are casting more quality then quantity which isn’t always a smart thing to do. Yes both Josh Henderson and Jesse Metcalfe are good looking guys but Josh cannot act to save his life and he isn’t very convincing and Jesse is an okay actor too. But when are shows ever going to cast ACTORS that can bring something to the plate. However I am willing to give it a chance. TNT lately has had a good reputation on promoting their shows and giving it a chance without cancelling it too quickly like Fox or NBC. But lets hope this reboot doesn’t wind up in the gutter like other reboots have in the past of old shows.
This will do better than “Lone Star”. TNT does quality, and Michael Robin had directed two shows that each ran 7 years (“The Closer” & “Nip/Tuck”), so I think he can get quality out of his cast.
Now let’s see how the cast rounds out.
This is funny! I dont remember Kristin or Jeff Farraday being part mexican and italian. Jesse Metcalf is a great actor! But I think they could have done better with casting. Folks it will be a miracle if it lasts longer than 4 episodes. Look at Lonestar last year! This country has changed so much since the 80′s that everything is backwards. Let me guess the Ewings have a bunch of wind turbines as well. Give me a break.
The cast is going to be one set of sexy people.
Finally Christopher can fight with John Ross, thinking of the evil blood he may have earned from his mother Kristin Shephard (Sue Ellens’sister) and his father Jeff Farraday, both bad character profiles…so there will be hope for rivalty on Southfork…:)))
