Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is needed to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100% sure. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I am an “ORIGINAL DALLAS” Veteran. I am really hoping this new generation will not turn it into a BH90210 style. The only person who should be bed-hopping is the JR offspring. No swearing or drugs please. My children grew up being able to watch this program/ piece of history. Keep the kids true to the characters of their parentage (adoptive or natural). Just do a good job, and air it soon.

why didnt they just get omri katz to do john ross again,i mean he is the oring 1,keep it oring as possible..

I think this is very sound casting. As great as it might in theory be to have Omri Katz back in the role, I don’t think he really does much acting anymore. Looking at Josh, I can ~totally~ see him being the offspring of Larry Hagman and Linda Gray – far more so than Katz in fact.

I’m on season 8 and spend hours watching it. Can’t wait for this new series. It was always a big hit in the uk 70 ‘s and 80′s and I hope Charlene Tilton and Victoria Principle and Ken Kercahvel get parts too and it becomes a double Barnes Ewing dyed with both the oldies and the offspring. Can’t wait!!

Will the new Dallas be filmed at Southfork Ranch

    Reply
    • Will

Hey Steven, good question, i wanna know this too as the ranch is open practically 365 days a year as a visitors attraction? maybe they’ll film the pilot there and if successful, build a set in Hollywood like the did the original, but nothing beats location filming and wide shots from the Southfork gate way up to the mansion…

What about Joshua Harris and Omri Katz? Please tell me they are going to be on the show! Why aren’t they reprising their roles? They’re the right age! That would be amazing!!1

He was born in ’81 which is close enough in terms of proper chronology (outside of ‘SORAS’ soap opera rapid aging syndrome) give or take a few years. He has the features that you could say he has the looks of both parents. I am glad he is from Texas. Glad they are really getting this thing rolling!

The character is 29, like Josh. They almost turned him down because he looked to young! Thank you!

I have seen some photos of him online and he looks devilish in some of them. So, I would say, “good job”. Also expected him to be older. Who is playing Christopher? Are we going to see other offspring returning? What about other original cast members?

I pictured John Ross being older, mayber closer to 40, but he might bring a wider audience to the show, so I say let’s do it!

He looks more like how I would see Christopher looking. But I guess we’ll see how this plays out.
