Bobby and JR Ewing back at Southfork

We can confirm that both Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy will reprise their roles as Bobby and JR Ewing in the upcoming pilot for Dallas on TNT.

Patrick confirmed his pivotal role in the new show earlier this month and now Larry Hagman has jumped on board to reprise his character of JR Ewing.

The pilot episode will focus on the battle between John Ross Ewing and his cousin Christopher.

Casting is currently in the early stages but other original stars expected to confirm soon include Linda Gray as Sue Ellen and Priscilla Presley as Jenna Krebbs.

Casting for the key younger cast is still ongoing.

Should keep John Ross & Christopher’s actors the same.. no recast. I really hope the script writing remain the “high caliber” writing, and NOT the lame storylines written today.. it will only tarnish… the name of “DALLAS”… yes, I am a true devoted fan.

Ok, this is good news. I have to tell you that I’m in my 30′s and I’m already tired of watching everyone cast in a show thats under the age of 28. Seriously, are actors has beens by the time they’re 30. I would much rather watch the original cast. All AARP of them. They have character. I hope they develop a relationship with Sue Ellen and Pam. Why is Victoria so reluctant to be associated with Dallas. Her body of work is really not that immpresive and her skincare line is less than satifactory. She should jump at the opportunity.I hope she’s taking her meds. LOL

I’ll watch the new Dallas if Victoria and Patrick is in it together again. For once give Pam and Bobby a happy ending as closure of ‘DALLAS’. Its not worth watch without Larry Hagman, Linda Gray, Patrick Duffy and Victoria Principal together. Even in asia they are welknown with their character in Dallas. I think we would love to see them together again in Dallas.

I’m excited. I recently read Liz Smith’s column featuring Linda Gray. She has an interesting story as an actress. The reality of hitting the jackpot at the age of 38 is remarkable. Now at 70, she looks incredible and she’s so mentaly sharp.

I have a hard time believing that Larry, Linda and Patrick would be willing to work 14 hours a day, 5 days a week until they’re ready for the bone garden. They should just do cameos and enjoy theire lives. Life as a regular on a series can be ruff.

Remember the show is based on the younger generation so all this talk about the old characters is insignaficant. I would love to see pam back and could make a great story line of christopher finding her as pam found her own mom. I think bobby JR and Sue elllan should be in at the begining as they have been in the mini series that followed the show. I hope some of the old members do make some re occuring cameos.

But for the new seriers there are loads of babies out there from the cast to come back and battle for the compnay, John Ross Christopher lucas, James, Lucy’s child or children by now, Afton coopers child, Margret donna and rays daughter,How about bobby and betsie maybe gary and val could make a cameo. I do think they need a full cast of family members, Ye supdated into this generations multi media celebrate based world.

I am looking forward to it.

My gut feeling is that Victoria isn’t playing with a full deck anymore. Somethings up with her. She has unnecessarily isolated herself…almost a recluse like the infamous Norma Desman. What does she have going on? I do have to say that she was a huge ingredient in the Dallas chemistry. However, I think that Linda Gray can make up for two Victorias…She really should make herself more available to the public. When she pulls herself together she’s really good.

You have a point. I live in Malibu and I know she recently donated some money to preserve the wild flowers, but still. I never se her out and about. Why doesn’t she create a movie for herself or some perform in theatre? Whats the deal? I have seen Charlene Tilton around Roberston in W. Hollywood and she’s sooo friendly.Very approachable.

Great news, looking forward to it, in whatever way it turns out, it will be nice to have some of the gang back again.

On the other hand, I do wish some people on this thread would get over the whole “bring back Pam” theme. Pam is dead, the show killed her off with the second actress saying she had a few months left to live. Get over it. If people regard themselves as fans, then they would know this from watching the storyline play out. Remember Pam for the way she was. At any rate, Victoria herself gave an interview for this very site saying that she wouldn’t go back to Dallas.

But I agree, Lucy needs to be brought back. She’s no pushover and she can help Christopher take on evil little John Ross…..

The only reason they had the second actress for Pamela Barnes Ewing state that she only had a few months to live was to open another cliffhanger and an opening for returning Pam to the show. Every true fan of Dallas would know thats what “DALLAS” is famous for. Hell yeah bring Pam back, its where she belongs. The way she was taken out really bummed out alot of Dallas fans in the first place. I think it was pretty arrogant of you to even suggest that. Whatever makes this show number #1 again needs to happen-INCLUDING BRINGING BACK PAMELA BARNES EWING!!!!

Linda would do a great job at playing the crazy mother of Teri Hatcher. Oh that would bring some excitement to the Desperate Housewives.

I think Linda Gray would be perfect as a guest star on Desperate Housewives. I’ve heard the part the late Dixie Carter played two season ago on DP was intended for Linda Gray. However, Mark Cherry had a close relationship with Dixie…I know that he DOES like Linda…They should right something again for Linda on DP. DP is getting long in the tooth.

We really need something good on telly,it is so crap,at least we had Dallas,Knots and Dynasty.I wish Victoria would even do desperate housewives, they should never have got rid of Nicollette sheridan from that.
I lost interest in Dallas after Pam went, her and Sue ellen, such great characters!Who knows Victoria may do it and get Donna mills and Morgan fairchild, bet Joan collins would do it too!Audrey and Charlene and Morgan back as the brilliant Katherine!

The news of a Dallas comeback fills me with both joy and fear! Its has been too long without the folk of Southfork in our lives and on our TV and I for one would love to see it back. But I fear that it won’t get the treatment that its legacy deserves. Dallas was a global phenomenom with a large fanbase and history. The show should only go ahead if all the correct ingredients are in place.

Firstly, you need the cast. I appreciate that there needs to be a new generation to make the story current and give it a fresh lease of life, but the show really won’t work without the original characters, especially the big 3: Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and the amazing Linda Gray. It will be good to see others return too, such as Ken Kercheval, Charlene Tilton, Steve Kanaly and Susan Howard, but probably only in occasional guest appearances. And as much as I’d love to see Miss Principal back…..I fear that this won’t happen! The casting for John Ross and Chrisptopher will also be pivitol. I do hope that the producers choose relativey unknown actors and not go for the pull of a big hollywood name.

Secondly, the scripts! Having the cast is one thing, but if the scripts and storylines are bad, then the show will be a huge flop! The global finacial climate is so different now and the stories need to reflect this. It would be good to see the Ewings struggling. Money and greed will not work as well today. The original show did start to get far fetched, which sadly lost some of its viewers and credibility. The new show should be driven by great character performances and genuine dilemas. The history of the characters also needs to be remembered so as not to lose its integrity. The show deserves to be treated with respected and go back to he gritty stories that were so prominent in those very early years. It should be a hard hitting, dramatic series and not a farsical soap!

I don’t think it should be seen as a remake. They never work. So much has changed over the years and the way this show is approached should be too. I agree that the show should start with the funeral of Miss Ellie. Not only would this would be a touching tribute to the great Barbara Bel Geddes, but it would also signify the closure of the original Dallas and open the doors to Dallas: The Next Generation. Its time for those Ewings to break the mold again and comeback with as show and as fresh and as dynamic as when it originally aired all those years ago!

I would rather them focus on Linda Gray and Victoria Principal. Great reality tv idea – 80′s female tv stars for example Linda Gray, Joan Collins, Linda Evans, Cybill Shepherd, Stephanie Powers, Joan Van Arc etc. etc. would live in a Bel Air mansion together and have to compete for acting gigs. I think that would be very entertaining.

I’ll really be disappointed if the show does not dive into the relationship between Sue Ellen and Pamela. I think they could really dive into that and it would be a clincher for the viewers. Two AGING beauties dealing with the reality of the choices they made in their lives. I would like to see a lot of humanity in their characters. Of course, we have to have the original actresses Linda Gray and Victoria Principal. The show will be a jip without them! They were Dallas.

Dallas? Returning to TV? This has GOT to be the Best News Ever!!!

Wouldn’t it be fanTAStic if all the original cast would come back? The story HAS to spin around Sue Ellen and Bobby and JR and Pam/Jenna and not just have them be a peripheral storyline.

I hope the new show in feeling and mood picks up where the old show (in its prime) left off.

I hope Southfork is given a complete interior redo.

I hope the new show captures the glamour and elegance of the old show. I hope the feeling of the show stays true to the original and not turn out to be a bad parody EX: like the original Brady Bunch tv show (good) vs the Brady Bunch movie (tragically awful).

When producers update series for the next generation, often I think they make the mistakes of making everything so new that they do not bring along their older fans. I like to see a reinstatement of Jason’s line (Jock’s brother). I thought it was not well developed when Jamie and Jack came. We cannot forget Valerie and Gary’s line (that got lost when “the dream” show came). Bringing back as much of the originals is a great idea and plus some that came afterwards: George Kennedy, Jeremy Wendel, etc.

This does get better and better. The more originals that can make an appearance or be semi-regulars the better. I know for certain that Omri won’t be going back, as he’s moved on and away from acting. So it will be interesting to see who takes over this role.

After viewing Dallas on DVD, I really feel that Linda Gray’s character Sue Ellen was by far the most entertaining. I still quote her from time to time and many times would burst out into hearty laughter thinking about Sue Ellen. People tell me that Linda is lovely and professional to work with…easy to get along with. She better be on the new Dallas or I’ll be crushed.

I’m genuinely excited about this pilot. The timing is perfect in the times we live in where money and oil are key to virtually every political policy made.

Priscilla Presley was on TV here in the UK a week or so back on BBC’s THE ONE SHOW – she looks great to be fair – granted she has had abit too much work done but i actually think she looks better than Victoria Principal does. Seeing Priscilla AKA Jenna in this script seems there may be developments for the older Ewing boys that we had not anticipated.

Lets not forget that baby Lucas (Jenna and Bobbys son) is a genuine Ewing heir too – could he be the ‘Gary’ to John Ross and Christopher???????????

Great News! This wonderful for the fans and for the actors. Dallas was more than a series it was a phenomenon and any actor fortunate enough to have played in the original series are part of an elite group. no other TV series before or since had such a visceral effect on an audience. What more reward could an actor ask for. As long as they do not try to make the Dallas series with strangers playing the key roles and they have committed respectful writers they will be able to recreate the following of the original series. The writers are the key. When writers get lazy shows go down the tubes. I think they should have the first scene take place at Miss Ellie’s funeral to explain where she is and to respects her character in the old series. I hope they don’t bring in some new love interest for Bobby, Without the love struggle with Pam it would not be a strong concern. I really hope they get writers who were passionate Dallas fans and not just people who want a job. I think the writers will be what makes or breaks the show. The characters were created perfectly and i hope some group of writers don’t get it into their head that the characters change personalities so dramatically that it is not believable to the original fans.

This is the best news ever!!! As a child, I remember watching Dallas with my Mom, Dad and older siblings. I love the show, and my husband even bought me some of the DVDs of the old shows for Christmas.

It will be great to watch JR and Bobby go “head to head” over the Ewing Empire and Ewing Oil. Now, their own sons, John Ross and Christopher, may walk in their “Daddies’” foot steps and create more interesting drama. Looking forward to some “real” television entertainment. Enough of the police shows, drug busts and murder investigations!! Bring on Dallas… the next generation!!

Very exciting, but Priscilla Presley back? Adore Jenna in the original series but Priscilla has really went off the rails in the last ten years and her plastic surgery is not flattering. I know people say the same about Victoria Principal but Principal looks much better.

Would be so awesome if she could come back though, have the new series start Pam is alive and married to Bobby!

Will Ken Kercheval be back do we know? Could be interesting if hristopher’s loyalty’s switch between his Daddy and his Mother and Uncle Cliff.

Oh and has Omri Katz been confirmed as John Ross? :D

After watching the last few seasons of Dallas on DVD, I realized the show was awful toward the end! They ran that show into the ground. After Linda and Victoria left, the show and the script revolved around Larry and Patrick and the show went to pot. Viewers tuned in because of their affection toward Victoria and Linda. They had incredible charisma…Larry is now to old and Patrick, well…hmmm! This announcement is not good. I’m afraid its going to be very predictable and cheesy.

I wonder if they could get the two who played John Ross and Christopher to play their roles again? They were really good at it as kids and each being so much like their daddies, I think they’d do a remarkable job if they would take their roles again – if they’re available?

Oh you gotta have Charlene Tilton in this – her smart mouth is just what they need – AUNT LUCY lol – she always had some great lines on J.R., well, now she could use ‘em on John Ross.
