American actress and singer Michele Lee is Elaine Paige’s guest this week.
Lee is a Tony Award-winning singer, dancer, actress, producer and director, best-known for her role as Karen Cooper Fairgate MacKenzie in Eighties prime-time soap Knots Landing. She also co-starred with Dean Jones – and a sentient car – in the 1969 Disney cult movie The Love Bug, but Broadway was where Michele’s career truly began.
Michele talks to Elaine about the key musicals that helped shape her career – Bravo Giovanni (Broadway, 1962), How To Succeed In Business, Without Really Trying (1961, Broadway) and Seesaw (1973, Broadway), in which she introduced the song Nobody Does It Like Me.
Michele also chats to Elaine about her days in Knots Landing, riding with Herbie in The Love Bug, and her love of Jule Styne’s musical Gypsy (1959).
