Filming of the movie “Dallas” is tentatively set for this fall, said Janis Burklund, director of the Dallas Film Commission. Executives behind the film are reworking some elements, she said.
Some filming for the movie was set to begin last fall in North Texas. But the project was halted after several actors pulled out.
The majority of “Dallas” was set for filming in Louisiana — a fact that industry officials say illustrates Texas’ disadvantages in the growing competition to attract movie productions.
Texas gives a sales tax exemption, but not much else. Lawmakers passed an incentives bill during the last legislative session that would offer producers up to a $750,000 rebate, but it wasn’t funded.
Burklund said it’s still possible that the whole movie could be filmed in North Texas if the state Legislature funds a film incentive bill before the fall.
